Southport State School Principal - Brad FrancisSouthport State School celebrated its 125th year in 2005. The school has had a rich history over those years and has educated many of the Southport community.

The school was relocated from the main street of Southport to the old Gold Coast Trotting Track in 1991.

The school now has approximately 560 students including Preparatory, and also has a Special Education Unit that caters for intellectually impaired, autistic and physically impaired students. All of these special needs children are fully included in all classrooms.

Southport State School also has an Italian program for Years 6 and 7, and has a separate Out of School Hours Care facility within school grounds.

Technology plays an important part in the school curriculum with the appointment of a full timeTechnology/Resource teacher. Technology is used extensively as part of an integrated curriculum. Most recently we have improved access to technology witht he completion of our new stand-alone Technology building.

A rich array of musical and sporting opportunities is available in our school. The school has won many musical awards with bands and choir, and has had state and national representatives in the sporting arena.

We welcome new students to our wonderful school and commit to providing quality learning experiences from our professional staff and supportive parent community.

I wish you happy 'surfing' around our site and hope that you take the time to further explore our wonderful school.

Brad Francis
