Southport State School is committed to preparing students for a lifetime of learning - skills for today and tomorrow.
Southport State School is a co-educational State Government School teaching students in Prep through to Year 7.
The school was originally located in the centre of Southport but was relocated in 1991 to an area that used to be a trotting track that had plenty of open space for the children to move in. The school was originally opened in 1880 and had its 120th birthday in the year 2000.
Most families live in the local area so that they can be close to services and to some degree depend on public transport. The school has a P&C and a School Council and depends to a large degree on a small but dependable band of supportive parents. The parents and children are very proud of the school and the pleasant learning environment created for the children. |
