Bus pass applications

Surfside Buslines urges all parents to submit their children’s bus pass applications as early as possible. Bus pass applications submitted in the new year until mid to end-March (this is their busiest period) will take up to 6 weeks to receive. These will be mailed directly to the school, not the student's home address.

Bus pass applications, and information about eligibility can be downloaded from the Surfside Buslines website (under school services).

Note that Queensland information is different to New South Wales.

Frequently asked questions

Am I eligible for a bus pass?

The student must reside outside a 3.2km radius of the school to qualify for a free annual bus pass. However, if a student resides within the 3.2km radius of the school, they will need to pay a small fee for their annual bus pass.

Alternatively, if the student qualifies under the Safety Net Scheme ie: Health Care card, etc they will receive an exemption to this extra fee for residing within the 3.2km radius of their school.

Visit the School Transport Assistance Scheme (STAS) website or download a brochure (PDF, 1.3 MB) for details.

Where are the applications forms and where do I send them?

The forms are available from Surfside buslines school services page.

They should be sent to:

NOTE: All applications MUST be mailed in with a signature. No scanned and emailed applications are accepted at this time. If you have specific questions please email Surfside Buslines at schools@tagroup.net.au Surfside staff will reply promptly.

Are school passes from previous year still valid in current school year?

Safety Net bus passes will still be valid for use on buses until end of February only or until the new pass is distributed.

Where will the bus passes be sent to?

During the busy period (generally until the mid-end of March) the new passes will be sent to the student's school.
